Overview

The Jewish Enrichment Center is an educational approach that raises the child’s voice in Jewish learning. Children develop a personal relationship with Judaism, through  in-depth, arts-based Jewish exploration grounded in Jewish texts, in a community of peers. Family and community are integral partners in children’s learning. For more information about our educational approach, click here.

Since 2011, we’ve run an independent Sunday and after school in Hyde Park, Chicago. The Jewish Enrichment Center is recognized nationally as an exceptional model of deep, relationship-based Jewish children’s learning. We provide educators nationwide with training and resources for creating joyful Jewish learning environments driven by children’s ideas.

At the Jewish Enrichment Center

The Jewish Enrichment Center is driven by children. Here, children ask questions that matter to them and dive into Judaism with friends in an environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and empathy. Our creative, long-term projects let children express their ideas about Judaism in clay, blocks, dance, dialogue, and a hundred other “languages,” as part of the long tradition of Jewish conversation. As an independent Sunday/afterschool, we nurture many diverse and beautiful ways to be Jewish.
