COVID-19 Updates

Last updated 2/21/22. Find information about the Jewish Enrichment Center’s COVID-19 guidelines here:

  • Masks: Beginning on Monday, January 3, 2022, the Jewish Enrichment Center began requiring everyone on site to wear a KN95 or KF94 mask, including employees, children, and parents participating in Shalom Chaverim (“Welcome, Friends!” for infants and toddlers). Cloth masks will no longer be acceptable. Please ensure your child’s mask has a good fit. Shape the wire to the nose and ensure that air cannot enter or exit through the sides of the mask. We will have emergency masks on site for children, but ask that you please supply these masks for your family. We know it may take a few days for shipments to come in.
  • Vaccination Requirement: All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, including a booster shot. All adults and children five years and older must be fully vaccinated to come onsite at the Jewish Enrichment Center or have a medical or religious accommodation. If your child is eligible for a booster shot (ages 12+), they must receive one to attend the Jewish Enrichment Center.
  • Travel: All travelers must monitor their symptoms and have a negative rapid antigen test 3-5 days after travel in order to continue attending programming. Unvaccinated individuals who travel to an “orange” state must quarantine for 5 days upon return to Chicago and take a PCR or Emergency Use Authorization-approved rapid antigen test 3-5 days after travel in order to return on-site.  Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.
  • ExposuresAn exposure occurs when a child is the close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If the child is not exposed, but a sibling or other relative is, this is not considered an exposure.
    • No test required: for individuals who had COVID-19 and recovered in the previous 90 days. If an individual has recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days, they should alert the Jewish Enrichment Center about the exposure and monitor for symptoms. No testing is required during the 90 day period after recovery from COVID-19.
    • Test after 5-7 days: for vaccinated children within 6 months of their second mRNA dose or booster (or less than 2 months after the J&J vaccine). If the child is determined to be a close contact of a COVID-positive individual, they should alert the Jewish Enrichment Center about the exposure and monitor for symptoms. They must have an Emergency Use Authorization-approved rapid antigen test 5-7 days following the exposure to remain eligible for coming onsite. Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.
    • Test to Stay (FOR SCHOOL EXPOSURES ONLY): for unvaccinated children ages 0-4, and vaccinated children age 12-15 who are not yet eligible for booster shots, where the exposure occurs at school. To qualify for Test to Stay, the exposure must have taken place at school, and the close contact must have been properly masked. Children must remain asymptomatic in order to qualify for Test to Stay. In order to return on-site, the child must be monitored for symptoms and have a negative Emergency Use Authorization-approved rapid antigen test. The child must test again between days 5-7, and on any other days they attend programming until day 7. Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.
    • Quarantine required (FOR NON-SCHOOL EXPOSURES): for unvaccinated children and children ages 12-15 who have not received a booster shot, where they are exposed to COVID-19 outside of school. Children must quarantine for 5 days. In order to return on-site, children must be symptom-free, complete their 5 day quarantine, and have a negative rapid test at or after their 5th day after exposure. Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.
  • If your child tests positive for COVID-19: If a child tests positive for COVID-19, they will be eligible to return to the Jewish Enrichment Center after a 5 day period of isolation. In order to return, they must complete their 5 day isolation period, be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and symptoms must be improving significantly. Please contact us at admin@jewishenrichment.org with any questions or concerns.
