COVID-19 Updates

Last updated 1/12/22. Find information about the Jewish Enrichment Center’s COVID-19 guidelines here:

  • Masks: Beginning on Monday, January 3, the Jewish Enrichment Center began requiring everyone on site to wear a KN95 or KF94 mask, including employees, children, and parents participating in Shalom Chaverim (“Welcome, Friends!” for infants and toddlers). Cloth masks will no longer be acceptable. Please ensure your child’s mask has a good fit. Shape the wire to the nose and ensure that air cannot enter or exit through the sides of the mask. We will have emergency masks on site for children, but ask that you please supply these masks for your family. We know it may take a few days for shipments to come in.
  • Vaccination Requirement: All staff are required to be fully vaccinated, including a booster shot. All adults and children five years and older must be fully vaccinated to come onsite at the Jewish Enrichment Center or have a medical or religious accommodation. If your child is eligible for a booster shot (ages 12+), they must receive one to attend the Jewish Enrichment Center.
  • Returning onsite after positive COVID test: If a child tests positive, they must isolate for at least 10 days. In order to return onsite, children’s symptoms must be improving significantly, and the child must be fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
  • Returning onsite after exposure
    • Unvaccinated children (ages 0-4): Children who are not fully vaccinated should get tested immediately when they find out they are a close contact and begin a 7 day quarantine. In order to return onsite, children must be symptom-free, complete a 7-day quarantine, and have a negative rapid antigen test within 24 hours of their return. We are researching a Test to Stay policy for children in this group.
    • Vaccinated individuals who received their second mRNA dose more than 6 months prior (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted: If the individual is determined to be a close contact of a COVID-positive individual, they should quarantine for at least 5 days. In order to return onsite, children must be symptom-free and have a negative rapid antigen test at or after Day 5.
    • Vaccinated individuals within 6 months of their second mRNA dose (or less than 2 months after the J&J vaccine): If the individual is determined to be a close contact of a COVID-positive individual, they should alert the Jewish Enrichment Center about the exposure and monitor for symptoms. They must have a negative rapid antigen test 5-7 days following the exposure to remain eligible for coming onsite.
    • Individuals who had COVID-19 and recovered in the previous 90 days: If an individual has recovered from COVID-19 and is determined to be a close contact of a COVID-positive individual, they should alert the Jewish Enrichment Center about the exposure and monitor for symptoms. They must have a negative rapid antigen test at or after Day 5 following the exposure to remain eligible for coming onsite.
  • Travel: We continue to follow the City of Chicago Travel advisory (here). Unvaccinated individuals who travel to an “orange” state must quarantine for 7 days upon return to Chicago and receive a negative PCR test taken between days 3-5. We also ask that vaccinated travelers have a negative rapid antigen test before returning onsite.
