COVID-19 Updates

Last updated 9/16/22. Find information about the Jewish Enrichment Center’s COVID-19 guidelines here:

  • Vaccination:
    • All individuals six months and older must be fully vaccinated (including boosters, if eligible) against COVID-19 in order to participate in our on-site programming, unless they qualify for a religious or medical exemption. We know that some children under age 5 will have started their vaccine regimen but not yet be fully vaccinated at the beginning of the year.

  • Masks:
    • Shalom Chaverim: Masking will be required for Shalom Chaverim children and families all year.
    • Nursery through 5th grade: Masking is currently required for children in nursery through fifth grade. After mid October 2022, masking may become optional if Chicago is in a low transmission period according to this metric.
    • Middle and High School: Effective Friday, September 16, 2022, masking is optional for middle and high school students, except for shared spaces like the bathroom and Mandel where younger children may be present. Masking will continue to be required in shared space, for 10 days after a COVID exposure, and in days 6-10 after testing positive for COVID, per the CDC recommendation. If your child does not feel well but tests negative for COVID, please have them mask then as well.
  • Acceptable masks include surgical masks and KN95/KF94 masks. Cloth masks will not be permitted. We will provide children with surgical masks if they do not bring a mask from home. We plan to order surgical masks in a big kid size and little kid size.
  • Travel:
    • All travelers must monitor their symptoms and have a negative rapid antigen test 3-5 days after travel in order to continue attending programming. Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.

  • COVID Exposures
    • An exposure occurs when a child is the close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If the child is not exposed, but a sibling or other relative is, this is not considered an exposure. If the child is determined to be a close contact of a COVID-positive individual, they should alert the Jewish Enrichment Center about the exposure and monitor for symptoms. They must have an Emergency Use Authorization-approved rapid antigen test 5-7 days following the exposure and remain masked for 10 days following the exposure to remain eligible for coming onsite. Please communicate your child’s test results to the Jewish Enrichment Center: admin@jewishenrichment.org.
  • If your child tests positive for COVID-19:
    • If a child tests positive for COVID-19, they will be eligible to return to the Jewish Enrichment Center after a 5 day period of isolation. In order to return, they must complete their 5 day isolation period, be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication, and symptoms must be improving significantly. They must also mask for 10 days following their period of isolation. Please contact us at admin@jewishenrichment.org with any questions or concerns.
