Date: Monday, January 21, 2019 8:30am-5:00pm
Location: Jewish Enrichment Center, 5200 S. Hyde Park Blvd., Chicago, IL 60615
Conference Fee: $75
About the Conference:
What does it look like and sound like to partner with children in their Jewish learning? How might we design education such that the child’s voice is central, and essential, both to what children learn and how they learn?
Come explore a framework for empowering children to grapple with Jewish text, connect with their peers, and reach new understandings about themselves and the world. We’ll consider:
-
Foundational beliefs about children, Judaism, and the educational process that support this work
-
Educational processes and educational environment that support a child through a multi-week effort to reach a new understanding of self, Judaism, and society
-
Text study with a child’s voice at the center
-
An educator’s role in fostering children’s growth
Plus, we’ll look at tons of examples of children’s projects created through the Jewish Enrichment Center educational process.
This conference is designed for educational leaders who aim for a child’s Jewish learning to address Jewish literacy as well as children’s capacities for creativity, collaboration, and compassion for all humanity.
As our conference is designed on the same principles as all of our Jewish Enrichment Center work – empathy, text study, and creative expression – your voice is important. We look forward to learning together.
