Sing and dance and celebrate!

This week, we have spent lots of time celebrating! We have been celebrating finishing up our final projects for our תֵּבָה (Teyva – “Ark”) theme, and have been getting ready to celebrate חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah)!

In Nitzanim (“Buds” for 1st grade), this has looked like lots of joyous singing and dancing. On Tuesday, we had a special series of “artist chairs” to share our תֵּבָה (Teyva – “Ark”) projects. Each child got a turn in the special “chair,” meaning their Zoom video was spotlighted so everyone could see them extra well. While in the special chair, children held their artwork up to the screen and told us about everything we were seeing. One child reminded us that it’s okay not to be completely finished, even though the theme is ending: “I’m not done but I worked really hard on this.” What matters most is that we can be proud of the hard work we have put into our ideas and our artwork. After all our artist chairs, we had a little celebration dance party to show each other how excited we were about our awesome projects!!

We ended the session by doing some remembering about חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah), which of course had to include some singing of our favorite חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah) songs! It is so fun and special to get to do all sorts of celebratory things together in Nitzanim. We can’t wait to celebrate even more with our families this Sunday at our Family Exploration and Celebration!
