Chanukah is Coming!

This week, the children in our family program (the Tuesday morning group), began our exploration of חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah). One of the things we did was share about חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah) objects that we have in our homes.

Some children brought a special חֲנוּכִּייָה (Chanukiyyah—Chanukah Menorah), and some children shared special things that their family does together on חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah).

One of the children wanted to share the חֲנוּכִּייָה (Chanukiyyah—Chanukah Menorah) that they made out of cardboard tubes, which has a lot of decorations.

One of the children said that each night of חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah) their family light a different חֲנוּכִּייָה (Chanukiyyah—Chanukah Menorah).

One of the other children wanted to share their “play” חֲנוּכִּייָה (Chanukiyyah—Chanukah Menorah), that they like to use when they play pretend.

It was really wonderful to see each other’s different looking חֲנוּכִּייוֹת (Chanukiyyot—Chanukah Menorahs) and hear about ones that might be used for play, decoration, or to light together with family.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll use and explore materials from the חֲנוּכָּה (Chanukah) box that we sent to the families and even get to make our own חֲנוּכִּייָה (Chanukiyyah—Chanukah Menorah), that we’ll be able to light!
