In שׁוֹרָשִׁים (Shorashim– ‘roots’ for nursery) and שְׁתִּילִים (Shteelim– ‘saplings’ for kindergarten), we have started our new theme, נוֹשֵׂא בְעֹל עִם חֲבֵרוֹ (Nosei v’ol im chaveiro– Help a friend carry their burden, or, their heavy thing).
The starting point of this theme for this age group includes thinking about objects that a person might need help carrying.
We talked with a partner about some ideas and then shared with the group.
“A suitcase.”
“A bench.”
“A box of party decorations.”
“A dumpster.”
“Things to build a building with.”
To name a few.
Children also identified some reasons a person might need help carrying.
“Its too Heavy.”
“Its too big.”
“Too many things [at the same time].”
Then we play-acted,

drew,

and built, stories about getting help carrying.

Next time, we will be thinking about נוֹשֵׂא בְעֹל עִם חֲבֵרוֹ (Nosei v’ol im chaveiro– Help a friend carry their burden, or, their heavy thing) in the sense of “something you helped a friend do this year that was hard for your friend”. I can’t wait to hear about the ideas we come up with!
