It is a very exciting time in Shorashim/Shteelim (‘Saplings’ for Kindergarten) Purim is coming and we are getting ready by playing a bunch of different ways that Jewish people might celebrate Purim.
At kibbud (snack) we have been hearing the Purim story (Megillat Esther). The children used character felt pieces to help us remember the characters.
The King, Achashverosh! The Queen, Esther!
We are also building parts of the Purim story (Megillat Esther). We even painted a backdrop of the palace in Shushan, the location where the Purim story (Megillat Esther) takes place.
We have been making a סְעוּדָה (Seudah- a meal/feast) for Purim. Children have been baking אוזני המן (oznei haman–hamantaschen) in our play kitchen, setting up the table in a fancy way and getting dressed up in costumes.

We played making and giving מִשְׁלוֹחַ מָנוֹת (Mishloach Manot– Giving Gifts of Food to Friends)…

More Purim fun to come!
