Nitzanim Leaders
We’re only a few weeks into the school year and Nitzanim (“Buds” for 1st/2nd grade) children have really impressed me with the ways they’ve stepped up as leaders in our new space.
Here are only a few examples of the ways that children have taken the lead in Beit Nitzanim:
Children are inventing new ways to play Hebrew games and explaining the rules to their peers. These children even negotiated the rules back and forth so that each child’s opinion was included.

This child found a way to clean up all of the corn meal that spilled on the שולחן (shulchan–table) after this photo was taken. Other children even volunteered to help!

Children have taken over the responsibility of serving each other כיבוד (kibud–snack), and they use Hebrew words to do so.

Children are leading each other in routines, completely in Hebrew, remembering to point to every single word.

Finally, children are sharing the space so that everyone can be comfortable, safe, and have some moments of שקט (sheket–quiet) to transition between school and the Enrichment Center.

I cannot wait to see how Nitzanim children continue to lead each other and lead me throughout the year!
