The Elul Project Launches Today

God, King, blasts of the shofar. What happens when you encounter these words during the High Holydays? What memories do the words evoke? What thoughts and feelings?

This year, blast those words apart. Pick up the pieces and tack them to the back of the sanctuary wall. Literally. We’ll fill the back wall of the sanctuary with a new art installation made by our community: interpretations of the High Holyday language, in words, photos, art, music, and more.

For the entire month before the High Holydays, join in communal reflection on the themes of the High Holydays. Create new interpretations, memories, and connections to echo inside you when you hear the words in this year’s High Holydays. This Hebrew month is called Elul.icon_elul1

The Elul Project.

The Elul Project aims to enrich our individual High Holyday experiences by:

  • Provoking reflection on themes central to the High Holydays
  • Supporting the creation of personalized interpretations of High Holyday language
  • Strengthening relationships among people of all ages who come to 5200 S. Hyde Park Boulevard

Look for the complete list of The Elul Project events in the Atrium. We’ll post new reflections prompts daily on Facebook.
The Elul Project is a collaboration between Congregation Rodfei Zedek and the Jewish Enrichment Center.
