Overheard in Nitzanim:
- “Wow!”
- “Woah!”
- “Cool!”
We’re tapping into feelings of amazement within the category of ברכות (berakhot—blessings) that a Jewish person might say when he or she sees something incredible or powerful in nature.
How are we doing it? With self-directed animal research. Children get to choose the animal they want to explore!
We’re so excited to share our research with each other that we practically fight over who gets to speak first when we share our “wow” facts at the end of זמן חקירה (zeman chakirah—exploration time).
Check out some of our “wow” facts:
- “In summer it [the goldfinch] has a bright color but in winter his color comes down to a grayish.”
- “Cheetahs can run between 68 and 75 miles per hour.”
- “The tongue [of a cat] is like a hair brush.”
- “Its baby [the blue whale] is as big as a school bus.”
- “Panda bears have sharp teeth.”
We’re so excited to grab our iPads and research notes and continue discovering amazing animal facts next week!
