Nitzanim Conducts Research

This week Nitzanim conducted research about the שופר (shofar) independently! Their own questions and ideas drove their research.

Here’s how they did it:

  1. Brainstorm what it means to conduct research. One child defined research as, “When you’re wondering about something…you go on a quest until you find out what you’re looking for.”
  2. Make observations about the שופר (shofar) based on what you can see, hear, and smell:

A child drew a picture of the שופר (shofar) based on his observations.

A child wrote “1. It stinks. 2. Smooth like a rib bone.”

3. Come up with a question you’re really wondering about.

“Is it made out of wood?”

4. Form an opinion or make a hypothesis about your question.

A child gave the following explanation for this picture: "Maybe its bumpy inside so maybe its harder for the sound waves to move smoothly inside the שופר (shofar)."

Wow, Nitzanim! You really had your research brains on!
