Shorashim Starts Purim

We finished our Exodus story in Shorashim last week, and wrapped up an incredibly imaginative, and inventive 6 weeks of building and sharing ideas with each other. We can’t wait to show you some of what we have worked on! We have now shifted into spending time inside of Purim together over the next few weeks. This week we made a list of anything we already know about the holiday and read our Purim story together.

In Beit Shorashim, we are spending a large part of our Purim exploration together with the Four Mitzvot of Purim: לשמוע מגילה (Lishmoah Megliah-to listenig to Megilah), משלוח מנות (Mishloach Manot- sending gifts), מתנות לאביונים (Matanot L’Evyonim-gifts to the poor), and סעודה (Seudah-the festive meal).

This week we focused our time on מתנות לאביונים (Matanot L’Evyonim-gifts to the poor). We baked cookies that will be donated to an organization that helps people experiencing poverty and homelessness. Children were eager to help others and are looking forward to doing even more baking. We know that Hamantaschen are a part of Purim and will be learning more about משלוח מנות (Mishloach Manot- sending gifts) next week!
