The children in Shalom Chaverim were busy this week preparing to sow some real seeds.
What a wonderful reason to get our hands dirty! It’s a challenge for developing fine motor skills to place such tiny seeds into the dirt, but the children all had the chance to place parsley seeds inside their pots and cover them up with dirt.
As we worked, the children discussed what might grow inside our pots– many guessed “flowers,” some guessed “a tree.” We are eagerly anticipating the arrival of our parsley shoots.
We explored trees and plants in other ways as well. There were real branches and leaves to paint with.
As we paint, we are exploring the different parts or tree– and noticing how the leaves make a different texture than twigs or flowers.
