This week Shorashim continued exploring our Ya’akov story, and we came up with so many new ideas about his moment of הלל (Hallel) that we hadn’t thought of before. As one child shared “Actually I changed my mind, Ya’akov is happy in the story not sad because he didn’t know God was there and he woke up and realized it wasn’t a dream and that made him happy. His body wants להלל (to hallel) because it was such a special feeling inside him with God being there.” To continue thinking like Ya’akov in Shorashim, we also created spaces with fabric around our room where we could spent a few minutes alone in to feel like Ya’akov and draw a picture of that feeling or read a story inside.
Thinking like Ya’akov made us start thinking of more moments when we want to הלל (Hallel). We used musical instruments and thought about what sounds make our גוף רוצה להלל (body want to Hallel) and recorded the ones we came up with on our Ipads. We also got to go on a special הלל (Hallel) אות (letter) walk throughout the whole building where we found both the full word of הלל (Hallel) and the אותיות (letters) ה and ל. We were so excited about finding so many places in the building with the letters from our theme on them! We also got to hear from a special guest about הלל (Hallel) this week. One of our own Shorashim parents came in to our room and shared her הלל (Hallel) story for some of us. We were so excited to know that other people are thinking about these special moments just like we have been.
