This week in Shalom Chaverim was all about the recent holiday of Simchat Torah. This looked like building an understanding of what the Torah even is– what it looks like and what it means.
There were photos of Torot to uncover beneath cornmeal, and blocks for building our own special arcs to hold a toy Torah.
A lot of care went into creating these amazing structures together to hold a Torah.
Then there was something amazing for us to see and explore– a real Sefer Torah.
What an amazing opportunity for us to explore together! We examined the shapes and letters we saw, and realized that these are the same letters that make up our shemot! We examined the print together, and then drew the shapes we saw using black markers on our own “parchment.”
