This week Shorashim began to learn about the upcoming holiday of Purim! We listened to the story about how Queen Esther saved the Jews of Shushan.
We decorated templates of the four major characters: Queen Esther, King Achashverosh, Mordechai, and Haman.
We cut them out and taped popsicle sticks to the back to turn them into puppets to help us retell the story.
Some friends even built a castle out of blocks for Queen Esther and King Achashverosh.
We talked about some different ways that some Jews celebrate Purim, such as, eating big meals with lots of friends and family…
…and of course serving hamantaschen…
…and retelling the story. We got lots of practice booing when we heard Haman! We can’t wait to learn more about Purim!
