As the youngest children at the Jewish Enrichment Center, much of the learning happening in Shalom Chaverim looks like open exploration– because it is.
This week we learned about the Beit Knesset by simply exploring one.
Children were free to walk, to climb, to crawl, to pick up and and examine objects.
After children took some time to explore the space, they were invited to explore in a new way– using crayons and paper.
As the children engage in the ways they choose, the adults around them are ready to meet them and share in Jewish learning together– providing the language for some of the objects we’re exploring and engaging in conversation together.
