This week Shorashim celebrated Tu B’Shevat! In honor of the New Year/Birthday of the עצים (etzim – trees), we decorated the classroom with leaf rubbings…
…and pictures of עצים (etzim – trees).
We did Yoga עץ (etz – tree), using our bodies to act out the growing cycle and different parts of the עץ (etz – tree) such as the שורשים (shorashim – roots) sprouting from the seed…
…and the ענפים (anafim – branches) stretching out from the trunk!
We built עצים (etzim – trees) out of blocks!
We made meals in the מטבח (mitbach – kitchen) using פירות (peirot – fruit).
We dyed fabric using plants and spices.
We planted כרפס (karpas – leafy green vegetable [i.e. parsley])! We poured in some dirt…
…made a hole and added some seeds…
…then poured in some מים (mayim – water)!
We can’t wait to hear about your growing כרפס (karpas – leafy green vegetable [i.e. parsley])!
