Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel

There were lots of ways to explore the dreidel this week in Shalom Chaverim.

Some of the youngest children were very interested in exploring a discovery box filled with dreidels of different shapes, textures, and sizes. One child slowly built up her courage to reach a hand into the box– she made small, tentative movements at first, simply reaching her hand in to brush a dreidel with her fingers— but by the end of the morning, she felt comfortable removing every dreidel over and over, only to put them back at start again. Other children enjoyed feeling, attempting to spin, and even tasting our dreidels.

Other children explored dreidels in their own way.

We painted dreidel shapes,

discovered dreidels hiding in the sensory table, buried under dry oats,

and read and explored dreidel stories.

Have a happy happy Hanukkah! Maybe you can find another dreidel to engage with at home.
