The Jewish Enrichment Center has just started a new theme exploring the biblical story of Rivkah (Rebecca). In order to really get to know the story and the main characters we found the story and the shemot of the main characters in different sources from different time periods. As time travelers we looked at a Torah from ancient times, a commentary on the Torah composed in the 3rd century, a prayer book printed in 1970, and a copy of the Torah printed in the modern state of Israel.
Along with our travels through time, we focused on hearing exactly what the story from the Torah was telling us without imagining extra details in our minds. We choose specific scenes of the story and reviewed with our partners what facts we had included, what we had omitted, and thought carefully about how the Torah told the story.
