Using Pastels for the first time!
Shorashim came into Yetzirah today to explore animals (chayot חיות). Today was also the first day we introduced them to a new art material – oil pastels. Some of the children’s reactions to the new material were confused. They said, “When it dries I will…” as if the oil pastels were paint. Shorashim also had a huge desire to continue work on their animals using these materials at home.
Children were given animals parts – bodies and legs separately – so the children could make the animal they wanted. Next week the children will use these chayot in imaginative play!
